Don't be churlish about privileges to Armymen

This refers to the article, “Orderly system has no place in society today” (May 8) by K Dutta.
I agree with the writer on many of the points that he has raised. But here is an add-on: I run a business in New Delhi. A number of politicians and bureaucrats visit my establishment with their many domestic helps. I am very sure that the politicians and the bureaucrats do not pay these domestic helps from their pockets.
But you don't seem to be worried that the public exchequer is paying for the work that these helps do for our netas and others. The officers of the Army (and the Armed Forces in general) are among my best customers and great people to interact with. They are the nation's backbone. I would not run them down. Instead, I would say that the Government should give them more perks and privileges.
