This refers to the editorial, “President Donald Trump” (November 12). The editorial has rightly analysed various issues connected with Donald Trump's victory and its likely effects on India-US relations. Trump's victory is a lesson for the so-called left liberal intelligentsia who had written him off right from the very first day till the election day. It is high time that these people realise that they are completely out of sync with the common man whose only concern, unlike them, is good for the nation.
In the US, the common man is more concerned about domestic issues that directly affect them like terrorism, revival of the economy, job opportunities and illegal immigration, rather than other extraneous considerations. As against this, the so-called liberals have been more bothered about others than the local people and, as in India, have often taken stands that go against the interest of the nation. It is hoped that the liberals will take lessons than confining themselves within their elitist group.
