Divided Pakistan

Published on:

Sir — It is no surprise that home-grown terror has once again come to haunt Pakistan. And if anyone is to blame, it is Pakistan itself, for it has been propping up terror groups and allowing them to flourish in the hope that they will advance its foreign policy goals vis-à-vis India.

In Pakistan, these outfits routinely target Shias and their places of worship. The Shias have been discriminated against, threatened and accused of being ‘un-Islamic’ in Pakistan. Some days ago, in broad daylight, six gunmen waylaid a bus in Karachi and killed Ismaili Shias. If Pakistan is the terror capital of the world, Karachi, besides being Pakistan’s commercial hub, is the terror network’s nodal point.

Terror groups have said that they are will wipe out the Shias, the Ahmadiyyas and other non-Sunni groups from Pakistan. Can the Muslims, who generally accuse Hindus of professing casteism, justify the division of Islam into sectarian groupsIJ
