This refers to the report, “Panama triggered Sharif's India bashing” (September 9). This is not for the first time that Pakistan has taken India's neighbourly gestures for granted. Numerous instances bear testimony to the fact that this next door neighbour has unleashed unprovoked firing on the line of Control. This, at a time when mutual efforts for restoration of peace were going between both the countries.
The report has hit the nail on the head by saying that Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, in apprehension of his sagging popularity among his masses due to his name surfacing in the Panama Papers as black-money holder, has fallen back on his old political gimmick of India bashing in a bid to divert his people's attention. Otherwise, it would sound weird that Sharif, who had cordially welcomed both, his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi and Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj, as his family members during their respective visits to Pakistan has turned hawkish out of the blue.
