Sir — In a bid towards improving the quality of service to the travelling public, Indian Railways seeks to introduce a ‘wake-up’ call service to sleeping passengers. As per a report, all that a passenger has to do is to enter the required data like the PNR number, station name and STD code of the station while calling up 139, to get the wake-up alarm call. It has been said that the ‘wake-up’ alarm would come to the passenger 30 minutes before the destination of the intended passenger is reached.
However, the wake-up call 30 minutes before the destined arrival is too early; 15 minutes ought to be enough. The interesting point is that at every station generally, there will be passengers alighting. Will not the wake-up call to one or more disturb the sleep of other passengersIJ
