Distribute judges

This refers to the editorial, “The pendency problem” (April 26). Merely appointing more judges may not solve the problem. In India, judgements are not only delayed, but people have to travel a long distances to come to the last court of appeal. Then, there is the case of over abundance of local lawyers in the last court of appeal in Delhi.

Hence, we need to first consider a scientific organisation of the last court of appeal. Instead of putting more number of judges in one place, let us distribute them all over India. Span of control is the single most important criterion for designing an effective organisation.
