Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Racist, uncouth netas” (April 3). The editorial has made a strong case for acting against motormouths in the Modi Government and in the BJP. The rude, discourteous and uncalled for remarks Union Minister Giriraj Singh made against Congress president Sonia Gandhi, are completely unacceptable. It is unbecoming on the part of a Minister to do so. He should be taken to task.
The Minister concerned forgets that in a parliamentary democracy, collective responsibility is the basic feature, which holds accountable the entire Government for acts of a single Minister. It is good that no member of the BJP-led NDA regime has endorsed the remark. As the president of a national, recognised party, a member of the lok Sabha and a woman, Ms Gandhi deserves respect.
