Disrespecting mandate

Published on:

Sir — Karnataka BJP chief BS Yeddyurappa’s resignation before the trust vote was on expected lines. To be true, the BJP acted in haste to form the Government. in Karnataka. Now, the Governor is left with no choice but to invite the Congress-JD(S) alliance to form the Government, which is an unholy alliance, formed after the election.

Such alliances are not uncommon in a democractic country like India. Nevertheless, people have not reposed faith either in the JD(S) or its leader M Kumarasamy, who is now set to become the Chief Minister with only 38 seats. This is against the people’s mandate. Specific laws should be put in place and the representation of the peoples act needs to be revisited.
