Sir — This refers to the article, “Eating beef not an Islamic ritual” (December 22) by KG Suresh. left-leaning liberals have made a hue and cry about the practice of cows slaughter. For them, this is just an exercise to fool Muslims for vote-bank politics.
Great Mughal emperors like Akbar and Bahadur Shah Zafar were opposed to the practice of killing cows. The recent hue and cry on cow and pork slaughter festival at Osmania University in Hyderabad has made it evident that it is time that such rituals be discouraged. These festivals will only serve to further divide our nation.
