Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Swachch Cricket drive” (July 16). The editorial has done well to advise that, since the Board of Control for Cricket in India receives substantial Government assistance and the public exchequer pays for it, its functioning should be brought under the Right to Information Act.
How is it that the BCCI, if it claims to be a private body, authorised to represent India in the international body of cricket, is permitted to send an Indian national team to world cricket events, even if it cosmetically calls it ‘Team India’ to circumvent legal provisionsIJ Why is cricket treated differently from other sports and its controlling body not under the Government, unlike the case with other disciplinesIJ
Is it because a large number of influential politicians are involved in it and the body is flush with moneyIJ As far as the Indian Premier league is concerned, considerable improvement is required in it, since it has become a den of corruption.
