Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Standing up to a bully” (August 29). It is a matter of satisfaction that the Doklam issue has been resolved peacefully, at least for now, when both India and China have withdrawn their troops avoiding any conflict. This has also silenced some astrologers who always predicted an India-China war in the near future. Indeed, it is a great diplomatic achievement for the current Government.
But a section of the Indian media is unnecessarily trying to provoke the situation by highlighting it as a defeat of China. Undoubtedly, India is now in a position to take any challenge from China, unlike the most humiliating defeat of 1962. But since any war inflicts unrepairable damage to both sides, it is always better to avoid it, especially when the world is constantly on the edge of an imminent third World War.
