Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Alliance of compulsion” (August 13). Mr Nitish Kumar appears to have mellowed after the lok Sabha poll, while lalu Prasad never ceases to amaze us with his exaggerated energy and one-liners, despite being in political oblivion for long.
However, the two friends-turned-foe-turned-friends are unlikely to touch the people’s hearts by their so-called maha gathbandhan. The small crowd at their meeting indicates that this alliance is headed nowhere. The two leaders’ slogan of fighting kamandal with Mandal may not cut ice with voters in Bihar.
Also, lalu Prasad, with his bada bhai posture, has signalled to Mr Nitish Kumar that he is the man to watch in Bihar. The great political circus has begun.
