Desperate remarks

Published on:

Sir — This refers to the report, “Campaign gets vitriolic” (April 16). In the case of the current tension between two Nehru-Gandhi families, the vitriol was injected by the supposedly politically savvy and sophisticated Priyanka Vadra, who went off tangent, attacking her cousin Varun Gandhi for going “astray”, presumably because he is in the BJP.

Mr Varun Gandhi and his mother Maneka Gandhi have been with the BJP for many years. Was Ms Vadra’s sudden outburst at this late stage a measure of her desperation at the possible debacle of her party in the current election, at the hands of Mr Varun Gandhi’s partyIJ In any case, her remarks are ridiculous. The people will decide who is on the wrong path. They don’t need lessons from Ms Vadra.
