Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Kerala’s own black Friday” (March 16). In a State which is not only known as God’s Own Country but also reputed for its excellent literacy rate, it is unfortunate to learn about the kind of pathetic behaviour that the elected MlAs exhibited in the State Assembly, with both the Opposition and the ruling group trying to outdo the other in their shameful conduct. The left Democratic Front and the United Democratic Front are to be blamed for the chaos they created in the Assembly.
Mr KM Mani, the State’s Finance Minister, who is the reason for this chaos, should not have been asked to continue with presenting one of the most important documents, the Budget. Removing him from the Cabinet and allowing someone else to present the Budget, would have been ideal. Unfortunately, egos prevailed over all else and the MlAs made a mockery of democracy.
