Sir — This refers to the article, “Fresh election or unstable regimeIJ” (September 12) by Kalyani Shankar. The writer has advocated fresh election in Delhi, as the formation of a stable Government is not possible in the present situation without resignations or defections of MlAs.
She has also rightly pointed out that good governance is required and that only a stable regime can show results.
But when she herself says that none of the major parties is in a position to improve its performance if a fresh election is held, then what is the logic in her suggestion that another election is the way to goIJ What is to be done if a hung Assembly comes into being yet againIJ
Meanwhile, it is not understood as to why the BJP is reluctant to face an election. Equally intriguing is the stance of the Aam Aadmi Party, which is adamant on an election, even when its image has dwindled due to internal feuds and its stupendous blunders. It seems the people of Delhi will have to continue suffering for a while more.
