Sir — This refers to the article, “linking one religion with state” (December 18) by P Narayana Kurup. While the word, parivar, conveyed a sense of nearness, security, intimacy and love in Sanskrit and Indian languages, the word, Sangh parivar, used in the English media, only connotes a mob of law-breakers or armed bullies. Conversion is an accepted ‘secular’ word even in a society that does not believe in proselysation whereas ghar wapsi, an effort to bring the converted back to the national mainstream, is a dirty word.
