Sir — This refers to G David Milton’s letter, “Nitish is right: We should not promote divisive leaders” (June 22).
Mr Milton has branded Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar as an ‘inclusive leader’. He refers to India’s greatness for providing space to all citizens, irrespective of their caste, creed or faith, to realise their potential. But he omits to mention that it is because of the polytheism of the Hindus, that this was made possible.
It is relevant to mention here that Annie Besant had said that India and Hindus are inseparable. Several Muslim leaders praise India without mentioning the country’s Hindus. This, therefore, is Muslim ‘inclusiveness’.
It is because of the tolerance of the majority community that several minority communities can take the liberty to tell Hindus what is ‘inclusive’ or what is not, without realising that they are followers of exclusive faiths, while Hinduism is inclusive. The likes of Mr Milton must note that.
