Sir — This refers to the report, “Cong spews venom against Modi on Nehru event eve” (November 14). It appears that, after being humiliatingly rejected by the people of India, Ms Sonia Gandhi and Mr Rahul Gandhi have given up on basic decency that must be demonstrated towards the country’s Prime Minister. These two leaders want to create communal division in the country under the cover of secularism and by using Jawaharlal Nehru’s name.
It was Nehru who got Article 370 inserted in the Constitution of India to appease Sheikh Abdullah. It was Nehru who prevented the Indian Armed Forces from throwing out the Pakistani invaders from the entire Kashmir Valley and allowed the formation of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. It was he who went to the United Nations to register a complaint against Pakistan and internationalised the Kashmir issue. Billions of rupees of Indian taxpayers have been spent on Kashmir, but with no resolution. India could have resolved the Kashmir issue after the 1971 war, as our forces had captured several strategic areas in Pakistan, but Indira Gandhi surrendered all claims at a tea-table in Shimla.
