Cycle of violence is killing tolerance

This refers to the editorial, “Sectarian violence again” (May 14). It is a pity that despite there being a democratically elected establishment in Pakistan, sectarian violence over there is going on unabated for quite a long time now. The Government's repeated resolve to stem the attacks has gone nowhere. Wednesday's attack on a bus in Karachi, killing more than 45 people innocent people and leaving 24 injured, is yet another addition to a spat of gory acts of religious violence.

Verily speaking, the responsibility of protection, safety and security of the minorities rests with the Government as well as with the majority community. Your observation that the absence of fear in the minds of the perpetrators of violence was evident from the fact that the six unidentified gunmen ambushed the bus and committed the crime in cold blood, is on the mark.
