Sir — This refers to the report, “RSS for rural India’s empowerment” (September 5). The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has rightly stressed for the need of providing congenial opportunities in rural areas to reduce the rapidly growing and highly disturbing influx of people into cities for education, medication and employment.
Since many schemes meant for rural employment have miserably failed, a large number of people from various States continue to throng cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata and settle down there, and as a consequence, chaos and predicaments in the cities continue to increase and make life hell for everybody, with no sign of respite.
These developments later rake up undesirable issues like ‘sons of the soil’ and ‘jobs for natives only’ etc, apart from aggravating the deplorable situation that already exists. Hence, the Government should create suitable infrastructure and facilities in villages to ensure a balanced and better growth of the nation. In fact, this is a crucial issue the Government should act upon on priority basis.
