Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Rule-book lt Governor” (December 24). Surprisingly, both the Union Government and the Aam Aadmi Party are citing personal reasons for Najeeb Jung’s resignation as the lieutenant Governor. On the other hand, bureaucrat-turned-academic Jung has revealed his role as the Centre’s representative, first under the UPA Government and now on the directions of the NDA Government, to keep upstart politician Arvind Kejriwal in check.
His sudden resignation has led to intense speculation on what could be behind this enigmatic move. Regardless of whether the Supreme Court lays down the line for governance in Delhi or the Centre names another handpicked one as Jung’s replacement, the skirmish has been one of the sorry chapters of political co-existence.
