CPM's crisis

Published on:

Sir — In West Bengal, no communist can survive in the CPI(M) with a differing opinion. Mr Abdur Rezzak Mollah has rightly left the party and has taken the honest approach of forming the Social Justice Manch. This is a new beginning for him. He has welcomed rebel leaders like laxman Seth to his fold.

Ordinary cadres and grassroots level leaders of the left party are constantly engaged in strengthening their base, but their views are ignored by the party’s senior leadership. A party which argues for social and economic justice and rights, and believes in collective thoughts, is in reality practising domination over low-level leadership. It does not trust its cadres and leaders who speak the truth.

The party of the proletariat has become one of power-hungry leaders. Moreover, the CPI(M) bosses have not even nurtured future leadership from within its rank and file.
