Sir — Ms Jayanthi Natarajan’s letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi confirms the information given in recent books on how official files were being made available to the Nehru-Gandhi family, which was remotely controlling the then Prime Minister. Coming as it does from a loyalist of the Nehru-Gandhi family, her revelations cannot be brushed aside.
Andhra Pradesh had once taught a lesson to the Congress for slighting a Chief Minister by the then Prime Minister. Tamil Nadu will also similarly wipe out the Congress for the humiliation heaped on a party loyalist. Ms Natarajan rightly expressed her anguish when she said even a convict was heard before being punished. The arrogance of the Congress is its own enemy. The situation can be saved only if the Congress ceases to be controlled by the family. But, given the manner in which the family’s sycophants have been condemning the former Union Minister, it does not appear that the party’s senior leaders have seen the writing on the wall.
