Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Why the metro matters” (October 11). A spike in the fare of tickets for the Delhi metro is undoubtedly distressing for the commuters who rely on this lifeline which is safe as well efficient.
Although the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation requires funds for its upkeep, maintenance and daily activities, the Union and State Governments should coordinate to ensure that the burden of heavy prices does not fall on the passengers alone.
