This refers to the editorial, “Insincere Congress” (January 3). The Congress is full of double standards. On the one side, under pressure from party vice president Rahul Gandhi, the Adarsh scam report has been partly accepted — although no action will be taken against the guilty Congressmen. On the other hand, in Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister's case, where there have been serious charges of corruption against Mr Virbhadra Singh, who is from the Congress, the party continues to brazenly defend him and not respond to the pointed issues that the BJP has raised.
The least that Mr Virbhadra Singh could have done is to have stepped down till he and his wife's name was cleared. But that was not to be and he has preferred to remain glued to his chair. In Karnataka, the Congress's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has inducted two tainted MlAs in his Cabinet, although he rode to power on his clean and spotless image. The Congress's new found anti-corruption strategy lacks sincerity.
