This refers to the article, “Rival is a snake, one's own a chameleon” (June 18) by Rajesh Singh. Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar is a unique specimen in that he seriously views himself as a paragon of virtue and someone whose views are eagerly lapped up by millions of Indians. He may be delusional enough to think that even US President Barack Obama looks forward to watching the television debates where Mr Aiyar appears. Mortals like us come across such pomposity once in a lifetime.
If at all the owners of his soul (the remnants of the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty) have to apportion blame on a single person who has brought their party to such a sorry pass, they need to look no further than Mr Aiyar. One unsolicited advice to the Congress: If Mr Aiyar continues to infest the airwaves, then a single-digit tally for the party is certain in 2019.
