This refers to the report, “‘Delhi ranks as the most prosperous city’” (October 23). It is amusing that Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit should compare her State's prosperity with that of Gujarat. It shows how obsessed Congress leaders have become with Mr Narendra Modi.
Prosperity and development are two different parameters. Delhi is the Capital of the country and the number of prosperous persons living there is no index of the development of the people of the State.
Gujarat, like most other States, is a vast territorial area, with its mix of the rural and the poor. It is the development of such a State that should be the yardstick, not that of a city such as Delhi, which has so many added advantages, being the Capital. This apart, the Congress always claims that it is “least bothered” about Mr Modi and his Gujarat development model. But Mr Modi seems to be foremost in their thoughts and speeches — a certain indication of their despair already.
