This refers to the editorial, “Immature young leader” (August 10). Politics doesn’t seem to be the field for Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi. The Congress scion has demonstrated more than enough that he neither has the charisma to drive the masses, nor the capability to lead an old party like the Congress. Still, his family and family-bhakts in the party are desperately trying to make him a leader. The grand old party has been losing election after election under his leadership and seems to have lost all sense of reason and responsibility in supporting him. In the latest incident, Congress Members of Parliament created totally undesirable din in the lok Sabha over the stone-pelting incident on Rahul Gandhi’s car in Gujarat.
Rahul Gandhi has been provided SPG security cover but is habitual of violating the SPG security protocol. He refused to use the official bullet proof vehicle and was travelling in non-bullet proof party vehicle. He was stopped at places without a pre-scheduled programme and advance intimation to the SPG. Anything wrong could happen with him in these circumstances and the Congress had no justification for stalling House proceedings over his security. Instead of stalling the lok Sabha, the Congress leaders should have asked Rahul Gandhi to follow the security protocol while travelling in India or abroad.
