Sir — This refers to the article, “Mamata may do the tango with Modi” (February 21) by Sunanda K Datta-Ray. This article is West Bengal and Mamata-specific but I cannot help remarking on the observation that the “loser in all this seems to be the Congress”.
It is not just West Bengal; the Congress has worked assiduously to earn the ‘loser’ tag everywhere in the country, even where it had a solid presence — in States such as Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Kerala. The blame for much of this lies with the Congress high command which has promoted the wrong leaders in these States.
