This refers to the editorial, “like a headless chicken” (November 14). It is apparent that the grand old party of India is caught between a rock and a hard place. Having lost its credibility with the public and faced with a formidable opposition in Mr Narendra Modi, the Congress has lost all its bearings. The Bharatiya Janata Party has done well by projecting Mr Modi as its prime ministerial candidate to blunt the charge of a being weak opposition with a leadership vacuum.
The country is now looking to Mr Modi as a ray of hope. Every charge that the Congress hurls at him will be a negative point for the Congress itself. Having judged the situation, the Congress is resorting to diversionary politics by creating safety valves like Mr Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi to arrest the flow of floating votes in favour of Mr Modi. The BJP now needs to overcome this challenge by exposing the unholy nexus, and win the final battle.
