Sir — This refers to the article, “We must move beyond plastics” (February 12) by Prerna Singh Bindra. The problem in our society is that even the educated class, which is aware of the harmful effects of plastic, cannot resist the temptation of using it. People insist on buying and carrying items like milk, vegetables, fruits etc in plastic bags.
Worse still, we litter wildlife sanctuaries with waste, which harms the flora and fauna of the region. We don’t have any environmental or civic sense. Unless we take the initiative and change our habits, no amount of laws are going to help.
