Concentrated effort

Sir — This refers to the article, “Avoiding a hung House in 2014” (December 24) by Biswajeet Banerjee. The writer has rightly suggested that the BJP and its allies concentrate on the ‘winnable’ seats to conserve their meagre resources, rather than spread themselves thin across the country.

In the present scheme of things, one wonders if the BJP can win even a single lok Sabha seat from Odisha. The BJP’s detractors say that the Modi-wave will not save the party as evidenced from its poor performance in recent local elections. 

There is another allegation that the State BJP leadership has become complacent. It is assuming that ‘Modi-magic’ will bring it success. This is problematic.
