Sir — This refers to the editorials, “Note-worthy decision” (November 10) and “President Donald Trump” (November 11). To say that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump are the same won’t be fair but their journeys to the top office is comparable.
While Modi was up against lutyen’s Delhi coterie of his own party, Trump was up against Republican governors and senators such as Marco Rubio, Ben Carson and others who were seen as the ‘establishment’ politicians by many.
Surprisingly, both their campaigns had similar taglines. While Modi used ‘Achche din’ and ‘Main desh nahi jhukne doonga’, Trump used ‘Make America Great Again’. Probably these were meant to remind the voter of restoring the nation to lost glory.
