Sir — This refers to the report, “Army wipes out ultras on Myanmar border” (June 10). The Army, by striking against militants across the India-Myanmar border, has not only unnerved the ultras but also emboldened its cadre with a new vigour, to give a fitting response to whoever tries to harm Indian interests. This is perhaps for the first time that the Indian Army has carried out a surgical operation in another country by penetrating deep inside the foreign territory.
There is also a likelihood of its resonance being felt in our Western neighbour, Pakistan, and the latter is likely to step up security around India’s most wanted trio — Dawood Ibrahim, Zakiur Rehman lakhvi and Hafiz Sayeed. India should have retaliated against Pakistan, during the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. But at that time, there was a pusillanimous Government at the Centre headed by the Congress.
Indeed, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a bold step. Now the Indian Army should do an encore by bringing back the nation’s most dreaded enemies, dead or alive, from Pakistan. If the US can do it, why cannot IndiaIJ
