Sir —This refers to the report, “Confident BJP keen to add more” (May 14). Although the result will become known only on May 16, there is no doubt about a NDA Government taking over. BJP leader Amit Shah has said that any party which has even a single MP and wants to support the BJP is welcome in the national interest. It has been said in good spirit, but there is a caveat: The more the allies in a coalition the more it becomes difficult for the leading party to manage them.
If the NDA falls below the 272-mark, it is better for the BJP to fill the gap with one or two such parties which have an adequate number of MPs, instead of drawing into the fold many parties having fewer numbers.
