Sir — This refers to the editorial, “J&K is not sovereign” (December 20). The Supreme Court’s pronouncement that Jammu & Kashmir “has no vestige of sovereignty outside the Constitution of India”, is commendable.

Confusion cropped in when the J&K High Court, last year, passed a ruling that J&K’s “sovereignty remained legally and constitutionally intact”. Rejecting the High Courts’ remarks, the apex court proclaimed that the State’s sovereignty “does not exist”.

Kashmiri separatists’ mischievous propaganda on the question of sovereign of J&K has thus been demolished. It is high time that leaders too shed their Jekyll and Hyde mindset vis-à-vis India.
