This refers to the editorial, “Swachch Cricket drive” (July 16). The Supreme Court-appointed Justice RM lodha committee has kindled hopes for a cleaner game. It appears that there are two phases in the dirty side of Indian cricket: One when lalit Modi took charge as IPl chief and another after his tenure, until now.
The post-Modi muddle seems to have been disposed of in quick time Though politicians, high and low, have been ruling over Indian cricket for ages, the taint has touched none in the current episode. But the skeletons from the lalit Modi era are yet to spill out, and the unpredictable and wily ways of the former IPl chief are deterrent enough to dissuade the Board of Control for Cricket in India from being too enthusiastic over the use of hard brushes to clean up the game. We might just see the use of feather dusters by the BCCI. After all, the game must go on for the sake of fans on either side of the pitch!
