BJP general secretary Muralidhar Rao’s allegation that Rohith Vemula was mentally unstable and that he supported terrorism, is indeed bizarre for tangible reasons. If Rohith was genuinely a pro-terrorist, it will have unprecedented repercussions across the country.
Meanwhile, the grant of a sum of eight lakh rupees to Rohith’s kin by Hyderabad University may encourage more belligerents at various levels. In the present circumstance, a high- level probe is obviously inevitable to wipe out the apprehensions of the people.
The top brass of the BJP should immediately intervene and give a perceptible clarification on the pugnacious claim made by Mr Rao.
