Sir — While meeting our brave soldiers at the Siachen heights on Diwali, Prime Minister Narendra Modi rightly said that 125 crore Indians can celebrate Diwali fearlessly and safely because of the courage and dedication of our brave jawans. Our Armed Forces personnel protect our borders, selflessly, and often thanklessly, round the clock.
Unfortunately, a few power-hungry and self-centered politicians and parties have been passing silly comments even on the Prime Minister’s visit to Siachen and later to flood-affected Srinagar. This is just mean-mindedness.
People remember very well that during the 10-year regime of the Congress-led UPA, from mid-2004 to mid-2014, not a single Congress leader of any stature ever met our brave jawans on Diwali in Kashmir or anywhere on the line of Control. Instead, they all were always extremely busy taking care of their ever-trembling ‘chair’ of power in New Delhi, round the clock.
