Sir — China’s desire to become a member of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation, where it currently has observer status, is not in the best interests of India. China has engaged top Nepalese diplomats and politicians to strengthen its case for full membership.
India should be concerned, because if this transpires, not only will New Delhi’s influence be undermined but also China might create an anti-India group within Saarc itself.
