China conundrum

Published on:

Sir — This refers to the article, “Resetting India-China ties”  (April 30) by Abhishek Pratap Singh. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping, during their  informal two-day relation-building summit in Wuhan, have once again fulfilled the formality of

cordial talks with their commitment to cooperate in areas of counter-terrorism. However, it was only a few days ago when China defended its all-weather friend Pakistan against Prime Minister Modi calling it a “rouge nation”, a “terror-export-factory”. Bilateral declarations between India and China are, thus, simply formal ones with no practical value.  China has neither ever condemned nor will ever condemn Pakistan for its terror-activities against India.
