It’s good that Indian Railways has decided to refurbish old-designed railway coaches in an attractive and pleasant-looking manner, but the need of the hour is to modify the design of general second-class sitting coach. The coaches should have two-plus-three-seat bench arrangement rather than the present one-plus-four-seat system. Often, in unreserved second-class coaches, some people are accommodated on the four-seat bench while it is not practical to share a single-seat bench with an extra person.
