Sir — This refers to the article, “Girl child isn’t safe even inside schools” (March 11) by Meeta W Sengupta. One of the things that is rarely brought up is the role of teachers and school management to reinforce the ‘segregation’ between girl and boy students.
In the best of co-ed schools in Delhi, the teachers snidely comment on girls who speak with male students as freely as they do with female students. The teachers use it as a reason to deny support to girls and at times even to complain to parents. Such an attitude needs to change.
