Sir — An astute administrator, Karnataka’s new Chief Minister K Siddaramaiah’s outspoken and aggressive nature has ruffled quite a few prominent political rivals as well as colleagues.
He is also known for his simplicity and honesty, a rare combination for a politician who has held many important ministerial portfolios.
Now is the time for Mr Siddaramaiah to use these qualities of head and heart and overhaul the administration in Karnataka which is in a shamble after the five-year shoddy rule of the BJP. Corruption and nepotism have eaten into every aspect of governance, and the Chief Minister’s top priorities should be towards selecting able Ministers, appointing the right persons to key police and civil posts, and ensuring transparency in every action of the Government.
