This refers to the editorial, “Arunachal crisis ends” (February 20). With the lifting of President's Rule in Arunachal Pradesh, the murky politics of the Congress, which was hoping for a backdoor entry, has been crushed. With rebel Congress leader Kalikho Pul assuming office as the State's new Chief Minister, the Congress's ambition of forming a ‘dissident Government’ has been temporarily dashed. Though it is expected that the administration will occupy centre-stage in Itanagar, whether the new Chief Minister will be able to focus on the task at hand, manoeuvring the nefarious designs of the Congress, is debatable.
All eyes are now on the possible turn of events when the House meets next. Balancing his Government with efficient administration will be a herculean task for Mr Pul. Meanwhile, the Centre must offer full cooperation to the new Government. It will be appropriate if the BJP joins the Government instead of pulling strings from outside.
