Sir — This refers to the article, “Courts cannot erase what death cannot” (July 20) by Ashok Malik. One cannot agree with the writer’s point of view. The very basis of conducting such caste-based rallies is to create a divide in society, which goes against the social fabric of a democratic polity. After the elections, these same voters are conveniently forgotten by the political parties. The ultimate objective of such caste-based political rallies is to whip up sentiments.
