Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Caste card collapses” (May 20). Voters have done well to break through the caste mould and vote sensibly. They have taught a fitting lesson to both the Bahujan Samaj Party and the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh. The two casteist parties have been severely hit by the BJP’s onslaught of ‘development for all and appeasement of none’.
The SP and the BSP had turned the appeasement of minorities and so-called lower castes into a political fashion. While these parties gained politically in the short-term, the country suffered as a result. Can these parties read the writing on the wall and serve the national interestIJ
