Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Government’s OBC push” (August 25). India being a secular democratic republic, the existing religion/caste based quota system for gaining Government benefits brazenly violates the secular clauses of the Constitution. Undoubtedly, our political intelligentsia is aware of this incongruity and remains close-lipped for self-serving purposes. The move to raise the income limit from six lakh to eight lakh would have been welcome if it was for all people of the given economic strata.
