Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Bihar’s package politics” (August 20). Interestingly, for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the knowledge that Bihar needs a special package for its upliftment, has dawned only on the eve of the ensuing Assembly election in Bihar.
Is this not an act of purchasing votes, though not directly by cashIJ Maximum beneficiaries of the one-rank-one-pension in the Army are residents of north India viz Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab, where there are no imminent elections. So, the OROP can wait but not the special package for Bihar!
