This refers to the article, “Adding strength, depth to our diplomatic corp” (July 16) by Claude Arpi. The Indian Foreign Service and, for that matter, the Indian Administrative Service, must be scrapped straightaway. These institutions are legatees of the British rule. They create a class of elite within the elite and foster entrenched exclusivity.
